The course integrates several different threads of modern pedagogical research
As you can see from the above poster, presented at the American Association of Physics Teachers Summer 2024 Meeting, our physics 131 incorporates several different threads from modern pedagogical research which are braided together to build a full course:
- Team-Based Learning Building to a Final Project
- Course Goals and Essential Questions: “What is Physics?” and “What is Math?”
- Introductory Physics for Life Sciences
- The Integration of Computation via Spreadsheets
- Inclusion and Metacognition
Each of the links contains more information on the following pages. However, as illustrated with the braid metaphor, the success of these threads comes from their collective interaction. Thus, I will try to point out when particular course elements incorporate more than one of these threads.
